About this deal

A budget oriented pedal that offers adequate grip and a midsize platform but may be less apealing compared to established brands The platform is big at 115x110 without being too big as it extends the pedaling surface close to the crank where the axle meets it. 10 long, removable pins are placed at the outer edges and on the middle of the pedal. The pedals performed flawlessly and just seemed to get better with time as they spun more freely and the edges were smoothed out. The best thing about them is the grip. Heel down, heel up or pedaling out of saddle, the pedals always provided reliable and predictable grip." During installation on these cranks, please ensure the pedal is rotating freely, there is space between the pedal body and crank, and the pedal is torqued to 35Nm. Does not match up with similar priced budget pedals in terms of grip and mobility but still finds value within commuter style applications

The only reason a couple of companies offer plastic pedals is for people learning. So they wont mess their legs too badly. Anything else, they are just toy pedals. Designed with a subtle convex profile to provide you with more grip thanks to the pedal sitting in the natural arch of your foot. The thin leading edge chamfered design gives you maximum clearance to reduce pedal strikes and deflect off trail obstacles. The bearing is located in this end of the pedal body. The pedals are also labeled left and right. This is a nice touch that can't be overlooked. The polarizing bulge on the Aluminum pedals houses the bearing. These pedals have a very predictable and controlled spin to them. At 113mm by 103mm, the broad platform measures up favourably against the regular Crank Brothers Stamp. Effectively you get more real estate on which to plant your foot, without adding to the overall width – so they’re less likely to catch on trailside debris, or indeed the ground when cranked over.vernonfelton My armchair assessment is that when you ride flats, tossing a bike to escape situations is easier to do, versus clipless, where tossing the bike happens less frequently because your meat is probably still attached. That instinct for self-preservation probably saves a lot of pedal abuse. On clipless, a lot of stress is focused directly over the axle on a virtually indestructible cleat, with support coming from the sole if the shoe. On flats, it would seem the bigger the pedal platform, the more leverage the weight of the bike and/or rider has to bend, break and grind up the internals, axles and pedal bodies. DUE TO THE CURRENT HIGH DEMAND, DELIVERY TIME FOR BIKES IS 7-10 DAYS. ALL PARTS AND ACCESSORIES ARE STILL 1-2 DAYS. Prompty took them all off and tried the OneUp Al version. They feel great and I like that they are even thinner (had to lower my seat a few mm's). I think I like the slightly convex better than the concave as well.

What are the odds? I was about to buy the alloy version of these, but this review has really made me wonder: The OneUp Components Aluminum Pedals hit the scale at 370-grams per set. Just holding them in your hand they feel lighter than other alloy pedals. On the bike, you may not notice the few additional grams over their lighter weight competitors, but you may notice the 60 plus grams lighter they are than the heaviest models we tested. Value The OneUp Aluminum Pedals have a high-quality build and finish. The sleek and attractive appearance is paired with some critical details that OneUp nailed. For example, the pins load with a slightly larger three-millimeter allen key, making them harder to strip. It is the details that count. OneUp also includes four replacement pins with the pedals, and pin and bearing rebuild kits are reasonably priced and readily available. Immediately upon opening the box I was impressed with just how thin the One Up flat pedals are. They are by far the thinnest pedals I have ever put my hands on. The pins are also significantly thinner in diameter than most other pedals– something I was initially very excited about. Getting them on the bike was a breeze with the left and right graphics. The Oneup Components Aluminum Pedal is a lightweight and durable platform pedal designed for mountain biking. It features a slim profile and a concave platform that provides superior grip and control.

By design, out of the box our pedals have some resistance to free spinning. This can be adjusted by adding or removing grease upon disassembly. Free spinning will increase over time and wear of the bushing. For the ultimate flat pedal torture test, I grabbed my hardtail and headed out to Whistler to shred some gnarly bike park. There was no foot pedal separation the entire first half of the day. The pedals inspired confidence through the beer can size braking bumps and provided a great transfer of power out of corners. I found myself sitting down briefly to adjust my foot on some of the rougher sections, with how soft my shoes are the pins felt glued to the bottom. riiz: Agree 100%. I live in Australia and the big UK companies will ship most stuff to Oz for free. Having ridden on Nanos for a week in the UK I was keen to get some, but the postage on a pair of GBP50 pedals was GBP90!!!

I agree with everything you say, but there are a plethora of well-designed flat pedals in AL for about that price, it's just that OneUp priced theirs quite high. eddieefc: what is the logic behind your comment? Plastic pedals break, they are not going to last 5 years. The OneUp Aluminum did not lose many points in this metric because a spacer kit is readily available. This allows you to shorten the pins by adding a washer on the loading side of the pedal. If mobility is important, you can shorten some or all pins. These spacers can also be used to simulate concavity on the pedal by shortening the pins in the middle and keeping the front and rear pins long. I bought a set of Crankbrothers Stamp pedals at the start of this season to experiment with platform pedals, after years of riding with SPD clips (and anxiety over low-speed stall-falls). After several months of anxiety-free riding, I'm pretty much sold on platforms. Pin Quantity: 10 per side, 20 per pedal, 40 in total. The replaceable pins are rear loading as well so they are easier to change out in the future.freestyIAM: Because Shimano produces all of their own products there is no Middle man. They sell their merchandise directly to retailers so the savings gets passed onto everyone. And when your SPD design hasnt changed in years, casting some different alloy frames to go around the retention system is fooking cheap.

Racing Rumours 2024 Part 1: Danny Hart Off Cube, Vali to YT, the End of GT Factory Racing, Kintner Off Norco, & More These pedals are designed to have quite aggressive pins for maximum grip. Our pedal pin & washer kit comes with 0.5mm washers, to reduce them slightly. One Up Aluminium Pedal takes a different approach to others, with a single size, slim profile and oversize inboard bearing sitting close to the crank.

This is far from the thinnest platform in our review, but it is respectable and features a convex shape. The construction quality was fine but they’re not nearly as wide feeling as the numbers would indicate and the grip was terrible. I felt sketched out the whole time riding them. Despite the convex platform profile, where the leading and trailing edges are narrower than the centre axle housing, the sharp and well-placed pins do a good job of mitigating foot slip and improving grip. Even though the tall pins focus pressure into your shoe’s sole, it’s still possible to sense the axle housing through your feet. An inexpensive pedal that works great as a commuter, but less suitable as a true mountain bike pedal
